Wagemans
I'm a career-switcher with over 13 years of hands-on experience in professional software development, currently completing my Bachelor in Electronics-ICT at Thomas More University (Lommel). My background blends deep practical knowledge in .NET development, system administration, and IT security with the academic foundation I'm building in electronics and embedded systems.
Before returning to university, I spent 13 years at Trinsy Technics / On IT developing business applications, integrating hardware systems, and architecting authentication infrastructure. That experience gives me a perspective that most students my age don't have โ I've debugged production systems at 2 AM, explained complex technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders, and learned that good code is always written for the next person who reads it.
Beyond the Terminal
I aim to work in DevSecOps โ bridging development, operations, and security into a single continuous pipeline. My goal is to become the engineer who can talk to developers, ops teams, and security auditors with equal credibility. Long-term, I want to contribute to Belgian digital infrastructure and help organisations build systems that are both reliable and resilient.
Why Electronics - ICT?
Hardware + Software
I've always been fascinated by the layer where software meets physical hardware. Electronics-ICT lets me work at that intersection โ from signal processing to full-stack applications.
Security Foundation
Understanding electronics gives a deeper view of hardware-level attack surfaces โ something purely software-focused education often skips. This degree makes me a more complete security professional.
Formalising Experience
After 13 years of professional practice, returning to education fills in the theoretical gaps, introduces structured methodology, and opens doors that experience alone sometimes can't.
